The short version
Two clinician-forward models with opposite centers of gravity: Mochi charges a membership for obesity-specialist care and bills medication separately; Ro invests in benefits-and-prior-auth navigation to get brand medication covered. Insured patients should test Ro’s navigation claim first; patients buying ongoing specialist supervision are Mochi’s case. Neither column carries verified figures yet.
How Mochi Health works
Mochi Health's differentiator is specialist depth rather than price theater: the company was founded by a board-certified obesity-medicine physician and staffs visits with obesity-trained clinicians, typically under a monthly membership fee with medication billed separately through partner pharmacies, plus dietitian access. It has historically offered compounded options through partner pharmacies and brand prescriptions where appropriate. For a patient whose priority is clinical supervision — comorbidities, complex medication history, titration judgment — the membership-plus-medication structure can be rational even when the all-in number runs higher than a flat bundle. Our verification will price the full stack: membership, medication at starting and maintenance dose, and the annual total.
How Ro works
Ro is one of the largest direct-to-consumer telehealth platforms in the United States, and its weight program (Ro Body) has made a specific bet: insurance navigation for brand medication. Rather than competing primarily on a cash price for compounded drugs, Ro pairs prescribers with a team that runs benefits checks and prior-authorization paperwork for Wegovy and Zepbound, and it has participated in manufacturer self-pay channels for brand vials (its Zepbound vial arrangement with Lilly was announced in 2025 — verify current status). During the shortage era Ro also offered compounded semaglutide, and how much of that remains in the catalog is a verification question. The structural implication is simple: for a person with real coverage, a navigation-first platform can produce a monthly cost no cash program can touch; for a cash payer, Ro's value depends on membership fees and brand self-pay totals we have not yet verified.
Verified vs pending
Neither side of this table carries verified figures yet — both providers are in the queue, so this page documents structure, not prices, and says so plainly.
